MBPJ organises Remote Controlled Boat Championship to enliven the Independence Day celebration

PETALING JAYA, 6 Sept: In conjunction with the forthcoming International Boat PJ RC Championship, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will hold a Mini Speed Boat Championship which is open to the local community.

The tournament involves 11 separate categories in the drag and lap races involving the participation of 50 participants from mini boat clubs around Petaling Jaya.

The Director of the Petaling Jaya Development and Community Department, Aznan Hassan, said that this is the first time this mini speed boat championship is being organised by MBPJ.

He said that this is intended to bring the community closer to a new sport while taking full advantage of facilities provided by MBPJ.

“This is a MBPJ breakthrough to develop water sports with the encouraging response from the community,” he said.

According to him, this championship will be included into the Tourism Selangor calendar as an activity that will be an attraction for domestic and foreign visitors.

“In future, we are planning to open participation to other states outside Selangor after seeing the response we have received so far,” he said.

The day long tournament will begin at 9 am and offers prizes in the form of trophies and gifts from sponsors.
