Najib has no ideas to increase national income, should make Malaysia a crude oil hub

KUALA LUMPUR, 24 Oct: Prime Minister Datuk Seri mohd Najib Razak has failed to think innovatively to increase the national income except the easy way to impose the goods and services tax (GST) on the people.

This situation was made worse when the central government, in the Budget 2015, recently reduced expenditure for research and development (R&D) to improve innovation in various fields that have potential to increase national income.

The Vice President of PAS, Salahuddin Ayub, said that this has caused several countries like South Korea and Singapore some time before were at the same line and is now far ahead of Malaysia.

“Previously, South Korea sent a team to study with Felda but when they went back and carried out innovation to develop their agriculture, now they have left us far behind.

“It is also same with sports like football. Previously we were competing with South Korea and now we are also left behind,” said Salahuddin.

Salahuddin said that Najib should study ways to make Malaysia a world crude oil storage hub.

Salahuddin said that this move is very practical and can be realised since Malaysia has a long coastal line in Sarawak which can be put to use and the situation of West Asian oil producing countries are always threatened by war.

Salahuddin added that by offering Iran, Syria and other oil producing countries in Western Asia to store their crude oil in Malaysia’s coast line, it may spark a positive economy for the country, especially for residents of Sarawak.

“At least I am sure that the implementation of the GST can be postponed because we will have high income from this resource,” he added.
