SHAH ALAM, 4 Oct: The state government under the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, needs to implement strict monitoring and special emphasis to make Selangor the cleanest state by next year.

The Assemblyman for Sekinchan, Ng Suee Lim, said that without these two aspects, the target is difficult to achieve when various challenges constantly await local authorities.

“One of the challenges faced by local authorities is to change the attitude and culture of the staff of local authorities to work more efficiently and with integrity.

“In addition, it is also important to educate and create awareness among the people that the responsibility to take care of cleanliness and infrastructure is a shared responsibility.

“It is not just the responsibility of the government alone,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini.

Yesterday, Mohamed Azmin Ali took a pledge in front of civil servants at the Gombak District and Land Office to resolve issues related to local authorities such as the issue of uncollected garbage, potholes, branches that are not pruned and others in the next three months.

Mohamed Azmin said that he does not want to hear complaints from the people on the problem next year.

Elaborating, Suee Lim reminded the state government administration that the influx of foreigners may be the reason why the garbage problem cannot be solved completely.

“All parties involved, including the local authorities and the public, should cooperate with the state government and the Chief Minister.

“Let us work together to realise the desire to make Selangor the cleanest state,” he added.
