MBPJ: Phase two of one-way system in Petaling Jaya starts on Nov 23

PETALING JAYA, 21 Nov: The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will begin phase two of the one-way road system in the city starting Sunday (November 23).

The Deputy Mayor, Puasa Taib, said that the plan was made after the implementation of phase one by the local authority.

“The second phase involves Jalan Yong Shook Lin only, which is the change of traffic flow to anticlockwise.

“After two weeks, the final phase will be executed. We plan to hold a public hearing to obtain feedback from the local community,” he told the media after the full council meeting today.

He said that 96 complaints have been received by the local authority regarding the one-way road system previously.

“There were positives and negatives regarding it. Regarding accidents, that (compensation) is beyond the ability of the council,” he said regarding complaints of accidents happening due to the change.

On October 12, MBPJ implemented phase one of the one-way road system at some major routes in the city.

The routes involved are Jalan Utara, Jalan Timur, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Barat and Jalan Yong Shook Lin.
