Shah Alam residents failed to pay RM9.3 million in assessment tax

SHAH ALAM, 27 Aug: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) detected RM9.3 million in assessment tax that has failed to have been paid by property owners in the administrative area since early this year.

The MBSA Corporate Communications Officer, Shahrin Ahmad, said that the total number of property owners in the city is 224,888.

“However, during the first term of 2015 till June, MBSA managed to collect 92.9 percent amounting to RM112.3 million in tax. For the second term, from July until now, over 60 percent amounting to RM75 million in assessment tax has been paid by property owners.

“Property owners who failed to make payment until the grave period will be issued a notice charge,” he told Selangor Kini.

Shahrin said that MBSA will open payment counters on Saturdays and Sundays throughout August starting 9.00 am to 1.00 pm to facilitate the people.

“The payment counters will also be open on public holidays in conjunction with the 58th Merdeka on August 31.

“Stern action will be taken if property owners still fail to pay the assessment tax in the time period given,” he said.
