MPK intensifies joint enforcement operation on heavy vehicles

KLANG, AUG 30: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has issued 33 fines with 14-day Removal Notices to some heavy vehicles following a traffic disturbance recently.

The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) also issued 16 reminder notices, while the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) issued 26 fines in four locations around the area.

MPK Secretary Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi said the operation was carried out due to reports of heavy vehicles parked at residential areas and roadsides, and are safety risks to road users.

“This operation will be held more often to ensure that heavy vehicle owners adhere to the conditions set by MPK, SPAD, Road Transport Department (JPJ) and PDRM.

“Their actions of parking the heavy vehicles at residential areas not only disturbs the public, but also poses a safety threat to the residents,” he said.

At the same time, Adi Faizal said that MPK will continue to intensify enforcement operations in view that road damages bring high repair cost.

“The cost involves repairing road damages especially at concentrated areas where the heavy vehicle owners park,” he said.
