Description Portfolio to Ensure that the People Receive Accurate Information

7.1

KLANG, 30 May: The Description Portfolio has been created to ensure that the people of Selangor always receive clear and accurate information about all programmes planned by the State Government through media dissemination.

According to Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, this move took lessons from the administration of the first term. Although there are many programmes running such as the Localising the State Economy (MES – Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor) Agenda, it did not holistically reach the people.

“Therefore, one of the tasks of this portfolio is to provide more accurate and descriptions directly to the people.

“We will discuss this so that any information and communication to the people can be carried out through various efforts such as dissemination through TVSelangor, radio and all media,” he said in a press conference after the swearing in ceremony of the State Government Executive Council at the Alam Shah Palace here today.

Abdul Khalid said that the State Government is committed to continue the MES agenda in this new term where the wealth of the state will be distributed to the people.

According to him, he and the newly appointed Exco lineup will receive all advice from DYMM the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and they will ensure the continuity of a clean and transparent administration as shown by the State Government over the past five years.

“As for my newly elected friends, I am certain that the will give their highest commitment towards the job entrusted to them in order to continue the Selangor Government;s excellence,” he said.

The new faces appointed are; the Sabak Assemblyman, Sallehen Mukhyi as the Exco for Islamic Affairs, Agricultural Modernisation and Rural Development; Kota Alam Shah Assemblyman, V Ganapathi Rao (Plantation Workers, Poverty and Caring Government ), and the Sementa Assemblyman, Dr Daroyah Alwi (Health, Entrepreneur Development and Science, Technology and Innovation).

3

SHAH ALAM, 23 May: Upon the release of student activist, Adam Adli Abd Halim this morning, several leaders of Pakatan Rakyat and Pro-Pakatan NGOs were arrested by the police under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948.

TV Selangor is working to confirm the location where Tamrin is allegedly detained.

Raja Kamarul: GE-13 Tsunami Not Racial Politics

1

SHAH ALAM, 16 May: The 13th General Election (GE-13) was not racial politics but that of the voters change to prefer to fight for a democratic value system.

Kuala Terengganu Member of Parliament, Raja Datuk Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad said that the people, regardless of race, have now risen to champion the fight against the occurrence of corruption and injustice.

“PAS won in many areas where there are many educational institutes and not because of the sentiment of race. In Terengganu, there are many issues of neglecting the Malay rights.

“Now the people are becoming more aware of the question of dependence on the government and the (Umno-BN) government is fond of having Felda settlers to depend on them. The government does not want them to be independent and free by earning a living through their own effort,” said Raja Kamarul.

He said this when he was a panel member at the Wacana Sinar 20th Series discourse titled ‘Post GE-13: Where is the Malay Political Orientation’ here today.

In the meantime, Kamarul also questioned the attitude of the Umno-BN lead government which allegedly failed in addressing the issue of Malay professionals as they do not appreciate their role in building the nation.

Raja Kamarul took the example of the former President and CEO of Petronas, Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican who is now currently employed by a foreign company in Singapore.

“Untrustworthy people cannot contribute to the government and has no place. A Malay is more trusted by Singapore and the United States,” he said.

This discourse also highlighted the Umno Supreme Council Member, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and Member of Parliament for Penang Hill, Zairil Khir Johari.

The programme was run by the lecturer from Mara University of Technology Faculty of Administration and Policy Studies, Assoc Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin, and was attended by about 500 people.

Malay Problem in Penang an Umno-BN Heritage

4.1

SHAH ALAM, 15 May: The Penang Malay problem is now a ‘heritage’ failed to be properly addressed by the previous BN administration.

Penang Hill Member of Parliament, Zairil Khir Johari said that the Penang State Government led by DAP is constantly faced with accusations from BN for allegedly marginalising the Malay community.

The fact is that it is a propaganda of Umno-BN controlled media that plays the sentiment by accusing Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders of not protecting the welfare of Malays.

An example is the incident of demolishing 20 stalls that violated the law which actually only involved four stalls owned by Malays but it was bandied about in the media to seem like all Malay stalls were demolished.

4.2

“There are cases where Chinese-owned stalls became Malay-owned stalls in the media. Meanwhile it is the Pakatan Rakyat Government which continues to safeguard Malay Traditional Villages. During the five-year rule of Pakatan Rakyat, no Malay homes were demolished,” he said.

He said this when he was a panel member at the Wacana Sinar 20th Series discourse titled ‘Post GE-13: Where is the Malay Political Orientation’ here today.

According to him, the implementation of an open tender system creates a transparent and corruption-free implementation of projects through the e-tender and e-procurement system which is profitable to Bumiputera contractors.

“When we have a clean government, there would be a clean administration. After five years since the implementation of the open tender system, nearly 80 percent of contracts were won by Bumiputera contractors.

“Foreign investment has also increased. Currently, RM36 billion in foreign investments have been acquired in five years compared to RM18 billion by the previous government,” he said.

The discourse this time also highlighted the Umno Supreme Council member, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and Kuala Terengganu Member of Parliament, Raja Datuk Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad.

The programme was run by the lecturer from Mara University of Technology Faculty of Administration and Policy Studies, Assoc Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin, and was attended by about 500 people.

Over 500 Dubious Voters Identified in Klang

3

KLANG, 3 May: A total of 571 dubious voters from Sabah have been identified to be registered under the Klang Parliament area.

According to the incumbent, Charles Santiago, the total is the highest in Selangor followed by 352 voters in the Kota Raja Parliament and 249 voters in Kuala Langat.

“The names was derives from the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) and the National Registration Department (NRD).

“Most of the names of the voters are descendants of Bugis and Sulu,” he told reporters at a press conference here at the Klang Parliament Operations Room.

Charles added that he will make sure that those on the list will not be allowed to vote.

In relation to that, Charles will deploy polling agents to not allow in those dubious individuals to vote on the polling day.

“We will send a letter to the Election Commission (EC) to ask these people not to vote.

It is understood that the PACA (polling agents and counting agents) may make an objection in cases suspicious cases.

“Prior to this, there have been cases where voters who live overseas were registered without their knowledge. After meeting with the state EC Director, Dzulkifli Ab Rahman, he said objection can be made,” he said.

Yesterday, the BN Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor confirmed the allegations by Pakatan Rakyat that there are special flights bringing in voters from East Malaysia to the Peninsular.

Bernama reported that Tengku Adnan admits the existence of such flights and stressed that the service was sponsored by “friends of BN”.

Anwar Will Reveal the List of Airline Companies Bringing Foreign Voters

8

AMPANG, 1 May: PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will reveal the list of airline companies allegedly used by Umno-BN to bring in foreigners to vote during the 13th General Election (GE-13) on Sunday.

According to Anwar, he has all the documents needed to prove to the people of yet another Umno-BN fraud on the matter.

“Up to this day, the Election Commission (EC) has failed to give any answer on the allegations made. I have all the documents regarding the airline companies involved and I will reveal it in a press conference tomorrow,” he said.

He said this in his speech while attending a People’s Freedom Tour programme here at Taman Dagang this morning.

Also present was the Pandan Parliament PKR candidate, Rafizi Ramli, the Ampang Parliament PKR candidate, Zuraida Kamarudin and DAP candidate for Teratai constituency, Tiew Way Keng.

In the meantime, Anwar also criticised Umno-BN’s actions of often using dirty tactics to ensure the administration of the country remains in their grip.

Anwar said that the Umno-BN leadership should leave it to the people to make a choice and prepare to accept any decision made.

“Enough with this cheating and let the people decide on 5 May. Datuk Seri Najib Razak does not have to fear because even if Umno-BN loses, he will still have the position as the Leader of the Opposition.

“Every voter should vote and make the right choice. We must work to ensure Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) victory to avoid the country from being continuously governed by leaders that are not transparent like Umno-BN,” he added.

The People of the Federal Territory Will Receive Water Shares If PR Conquers Putrajaya

3

BANDAR TUN RAZAK, 11 Apr: The residents of Federal Territory has the opportunity of acquiring water shares as a result of the restructuring of Selangor’s water industry if Pakatan Rakyat (PR) successfully gains control of the country’s administration after the 13th General Elections (GE-13).

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that this effort can be implemented based on his experience as the Chief Executive Officer of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).

When he was in PNB, he successfully implemented giving out eight million shares to Malaysians, including the famous schemes, Amanah Saham Nasional and Amanah Saham Bumiputera.

“So this is not a dream but why could it not be done by them (BN) who did not do this because they are not interested in the interests of the people.

“Today, we have chosen two teams, one from Pakatan Rakyat and another from Umno-BN”.

“Where one is thinking about corporate profits (BN) and another thinks about the people’s profit (Pakatan Rakyat),” said Abdul Khalid.

He said this curing the Pakatan Rakyat talk held at the Jalan Jujur football here yesterday.

Previously, Abdul Khalid announced his intention to distribute Selangor water shares to five million Selangorians if PR is given the mandate to govern again.

The offer of this water share is another translation of his ambition as a Chief Minister who wants the people of Selangor to own the wealth of the state.

40 Percent of Malays Remain Poor Under Umno

2

BANDAR TUN Razak, 11 Apr: Umno-BN has allegedly failed to defend and fight for the rights and interests of Malays and Bumiputeras when facts have proven that about 40 percent of the said community only earns below RM1,400.

PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that although Umno-BN has ruled for more than 50 years, it has still failed to reduce the income disparity between the rich and the poor.

“The majority earn RM1,400 and below…but Umno still says: Long Live Malays! But Umno Malays are rich. They receive shares, taxi permits, timber and land,” he said.

Anwar said this in front of more than 5,000 people in a talk at the football field in Jalan Jujur here.

Anwar stressed that the economic disparity exists due to BN policies that adopts the practice of cronyism so much so that the national wealth lingers around corporate elites who are close to political leaders of the country.

“Syed Mohktar, RM10 billion, Mokhzani Mahathir RM2.2 billion, Mirzan Mahathir RM2.9 billion, Najibs brothers are also worth billions, Taib Mahmud, tens of billions. The People? RM2, 000. This means they are poor,” he said.

Anwar also revealed how Umno leaders are willing to cheat the people by hiding their weaknesses so much so that the main problem faced by the people has never been resolved.

“Ask Umno-BN leaders, What about prices? The answer is that it is controlled. The people’s income? The people are all happy, Corruption? Only a little.

“This are Umno leaders, they do not understand the suffering of the people. Who does not know that this country is rich? Oil revenues reach RM80 billion per year but the income is still at the old level,” he said.

Kit Siang: PR Have to Win More Than 1/3 of Parliament in Umno-BN Deposit States

1

SHAH ALAM, 9 Apr: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) needs to win over a third of Parliamentary seats in BN deposit states such as Johor, Sabah and Sarawak, for the continuation of the GE-12 political tsunami.

DAP Parliamentary Leader, Lim Kit Siang said that PR needs to win at least 33 Parliamentary seats out of the 83 Parliamentary seats in the three states.

“It is to solve the GE-12 political tsunami ‘delayed work’ that witnessed the fall of Umno-BN in five states and the denial of a two-third majority in Parliament against Umno for the first time in the history of Malaysia,” said Kit Siang.

He said that the ‘Battle of Gelang Patah’ is not just a battle for him, DAP or Pakatan Rakyat because to fulfill the Malaysian Dream of a united multiracial Malaysian people rising above race.

It has been reported that Kit Siang, an active figure in politics for nearly half a century, will be contesting in the Gelang Patah parliament for the GE-13.

His candidacy for the Johor seat is to pave the way for PR to break BN strongholds in the Southern state.

“The Battle of Gelang Patah will launch a political tsunami in the 13th General Elections from the South that will spread throughout the country, across the South China Sea to Sabah and Sarawak,” said Kit Siang.

“I have a ‘Malaysian Dream’ which I am sure us shared by many Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, region and age,” said Kit Siang who will compete in the Gelang Patah Parliament in the GE-13.

Rafizi: RM6.8 Billion Subsidy to Lower Oil Prices Worthwhile Than RM8 Billion Subsidy for IPP

8

PETALING JAYA, 8 Apr: The RM6.8 billion subsidy for the reduction of oil prices of RM0.50 cents promised by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is more worthwhile than the RM8 billion subsidy given by the Umno-BN Government to Independent Power Providers (IPP) owned by cronies.

PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli said that until now, the government bears the annual subsidy of RM35 billion and RM8 billion from it is given to IPPs.

He said that it would be better if the subsidy is given to the people to reduce oil prices because IPPs have proven that the subsidy given by the government did not reach the people.

“IPPs have proven that the subsidies do not reach the people because the subsidies are stuck.

“So the difference is that PR is determined to fight with cronies, we will redo agreements that were previously unfair to the people, and we will fight them.

“If we have to sit down and discuss with them, we will do it. If we have to take them to court, we will do it,” he said in a press conference at the PKR headquarters today.

He said that the BN manifesto does not show any effort to eliminate corruption and crony monopoly that only burdens the people.

“PR proposes a holistic reform to eliminate monopolies which will reduce the prices of essential goods compared to BN, who is offering RM100 per month.

In their manifesto, the Umno-BN Government is offering the 1Malaysia People Aid of RM1,200 per year for every family which is equivalent to RM100 per month.

Rafizi: BN Manifesto Not Concrete, Acknowledges Effectiveness of PR Manifesto

5

PETALING JAYA, 8 Apr: The Umno-BN Manifesto for the 13th General Elections (GE-13) has no specific target that can convince the people compared to the Pakatan Rakyat Manifesto which clear on its mechanism, timelines and targets.

PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli said that, for example, Umno-BN promises to attract RM1.3 trillion worth of investments and create 3.3 million job opportunities, but does not specify how it will be implemented.

Compared with the PR Manifesto, which clearly focuses on efforts to increase skills of SPM graduates who are not furthering their studies, to take over one million jobs currently held by foreign workers.

“Examinations of the entire BN Manifesto show that there are no changes in economic, politic and social policies which will be implemented to fulfill BN’s promises,” he said in a press conference at the KR headquarters today.

Rafizi added that not only did BN plagiarise PR’s idea to lower car prices, but it also did not specify when it will be implemented.

“PR promised to eliminate the excise tax in stages so that car prices will be half of what it is now in five years.

“Compared to BN that will only cut taxes by 20 to 30 percent in stages without mentioning the time frame,” he added.

Rafizi said that PR promises to eliminate the toll starting from highways that have already achieved a return of capital, compared with BN, where tolls will be reduces in staged without any mention of an amount or a time period.

He said that the BN Manifesto is the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak’s biggest mistake because he was forced to include policies promised by Pakatan Rakyat.

“If previously you (BN) said that this will bankrupt the country, why do you (BN) now include it in the manifesto? Eventually you have to submit to what has been promised by PR much earlier,” he added.

Humorous Transformation, PR 10 Minutes, Umno-BN Live Broadcast

4

SHAH ALAM, 6 Apr: When Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is tirelessly travelling across the country to present the election manifesto to the people; Umno-BN has an easy way when its manifesto was broadcast live by government-owned and mainstream media.

This scenario is rather humorous when the assessment is made on the promise of mass media transformation, which is often propagated by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“It is quite humorous when they (Umno-BN) offered 10 minutes to Pakatan Rakyat to present the manifesto (recorded),” said former Sungai Petani Member of Parliament, Datuk Johari Abdul to TV Selangor today on the matter.

The launch of the BN manifesto for the 13th General Elections (GE-13) by Najib at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in a special ceremony will be broadcast live by the mainstream media of the country.

Johari also questioned the live broadcast because the existing government is an interim government where Umno-BN as the administrator cannot use any government agencies or machinery for the party.

“I want to ask if Umno-BN is paying RTM or not for using government facilities. Legally, they (Umno-BN) cannot use it for the purpose of party work,” he said.

Johari claimed that Umno is making changes to its manifesto which is believed to have completed early but pulled back when PR launched their manifesto earlier.

For example, he said, the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) was never debated in Parliament for the 2010, 2011 or even the 2012 budget.

“When PR prepared the Orange Book in 2010, which clearly stated therein the assistance of RM1,000 per year for the low-income Malaysian in particular, Umno-BN then launched the BR1M even though no budget was approved by Parliament.

“This shows that Umno-BN has run out of ideas. They will make adjustments to what they have and according to what has been proposed by PR. To me, Umno-BN has no originality and is merely a copycat,” he said.
