Sluice Guard Among Maulidur Rasul Honourees

KLANG, 28 JAN: Two guards of Sungai Bertik, Sungai Udang and Kampung Delek sluices received the ‘Jasamu Tetap Dikenang Sepanjang Zaman’ (Your Service Will Be Remembered Throughout The Ages) Appreciation Award during the Selat Klang district Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday) 1434/2013 celebrations.

Sungai Udang and Kampung Delek sluice guard, Hasanuddin Selamat and Sungai Bertik sluice guard, Mohd Nazri Jailani, were among the 51 award recipients in conjunction with the birthday celebrations of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

The award was presented for their services and the role they played in avoiding massive floods to hit villages around Sungai Udang and Sungai Bertik.

This was according to Dr Halimah Ali while delivering her speech at the reception held at Nurul Amin Mosque, Kampung Delek.

“If it wasn’t for them, surely the community here would often face floods, therefore, their services are immense,” said Dr Halimah who is also the Selangor Education, Higher Education and Human Capital Development Exco.

Meanwhile, Nurul Amin Mosque Nazir (Supervisor), Basin Bakar, who also received honours said that he regards the appreciation (award) received by him as the impetus for him to be enthusiastic in carrying out his duties for the people of Kampung Delek.

“Thank you for this honour, indeed, my services are a trust from Allah and the people of this village,” said Basir.

Meanwhile, Surau Hj Mokhtar Chairman, Mokhtar Ahmad said that the honours that he received made him more eager to uphold the teachings of Islam in Selat Klang.

At the event, a total of 51 people consisting of Mosque Supervisors, Surau Chairmen, Siak, Bilal, Funeral (Jenazah) Bilal and Sluice Guards from all over Selat Klang were honoured.

Earlier, about two thousand villagers from Kampung Delek and surrounding villages attended the Maulidur Rasul celebrations that was themed ‘Ya Rasullullah, Kami Sayang dan Taat Padamu’ (O Prophet, We Love and Are Faithful To You).

The ceremony began with a procession of 914 participants from 31 contingents of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), schools, mosques and suraus from all over Selat Klang that stretched for almost two kilometres before ending at the Nurul Amin Mosque compound.

During the ceremony, a variety of interesting programmes were held such as the Adik (younger sibling) and Al-Quran With Ustaz Zamri ‘Mantop’ (real name, Zamri Zainuddin), a colouring contest for children, a Knowledge Talk by Ustad Zulkifli, Marhaban as well as other programmes.
