MBSA Landscape Competition to inculcate environmental awareness among residents

SHAH ALAM, JUL 5: Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is organising the 2016 Community Landscape Competition, starting June 30 until Dec 30.

Participation is open to the 24 Residents’ Representative Council (MPP) in Shah Alam Zone and participation must be through a residents’ representative or neighbourhood association.

MBSA’s Facebook post stated that participation must also be supported by the area’s MPP.

The winning team will take home a cash prize of RM1,000 while second and third runner-ups will get cash prizes of RM750 and RM500 respectively.

The competition comprises two categories, namely Community and Individual categories, and judging is based on several criteria such as aesthetic value, cheeriness, cleanliness, maintenance, design and layout.

For the Community category, several key criteria taken into account include competition area, area width, maintenance, community action plan and stakeholders’ involvement.

The aim of the competition is to foster neighbourliness and social interaction among residents.

Additionally, the competition’s objective is also to inculcate a sense of awareness and responsibility towards cleanliness and beautification of residential areas.
