LZS ‘turun padang’ to track asnaf

BY: LIZAWATI MADFA

SHAH ALAM, AUG 15: On August 11, the Kuala Selangor District Executive Team for Zakat Agihan conducted a census on 31 households to keep track of the asnaf, who are eligible zakat recipients.

Through its Facebook status update, the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) stated that the mosque nazir, the village head and assistant amil kariah, also participated in the survey.

“The ‘turun padang’ programme enabled us to identify applicants who are genuinely eligible and their needs.

“Our appreciation goes out to all those involved in this survey who made it a success,” said LZS.

LZS further stated it will determine if the applicant is eligible or otherwise from this operation.

“Asnaf houses were also visited to monitor their progress,” it stated.

In respond to the public’s query LZS answered that housing aids depend on zakat allocation.

“At this moment, our priority is to help with basic needs such as financial support, food and education,” it stated.

“Noraisya, her eldest, has been suffering from hydrocephalus for the last six years, since she was seven months old.

“To support her family and make ends meet, Nasnawati does part-time rubber tapping,” it mentioned in a statement.

Coming to the family’s aid, LZS has provided immediate assistance of RM500 in cash as well as necessities such as disposable diapers, milk and rice.

Besides that, LZS also offered support in house rental and monthly financing to ease the family’s burden. LZS also contributed a bed to Noraisya for her comfort.

LZS helps family return home

BY: SYASYA SUFIAN

SHAH ALAM, JUL 22: A family from Sabah received assistance from Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) when they couldn’t afford to purchase return tickets after spending the festive holidays in Peninsular Malaysia.

According to LZS’s Facebook page, the mother and her three children came to Peninsular Malaysia to celebrate Hari Raya with her husband who lives in a rented room.

“The husband thought he could afford the tickets for his wife and three children after spending the festive period together.

“However, apparently his expected salary of RM900 was reduced by half due to debts and consequently he could not afford the tickets for the return flight to Sabah,” he said in a statement.

He highlighted their predicament to LZS Kajang after numerous efforts to raise money to purchase the tickets failed.

“After investigation, the family was given assistance and they have arrived safely in Sabah thanks to the zakat assistance under Ibnu Sabil (those who have no sufficient provisions for their journey, provided they fulfill specific requirements), and an NGO,” he said.
