LZS helps family return home

BY: SYASYA SUFIAN

SHAH ALAM, JUL 22: A family from Sabah received assistance from Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) when they couldn’t afford to purchase return tickets after spending the festive holidays in Peninsular Malaysia.

According to LZS’s Facebook page, the mother and her three children came to Peninsular Malaysia to celebrate Hari Raya with her husband who lives in a rented room.

“The husband thought he could afford the tickets for his wife and three children after spending the festive period together.

“However, apparently his expected salary of RM900 was reduced by half due to debts and consequently he could not afford the tickets for the return flight to Sabah,” he said in a statement.

He highlighted their predicament to LZS Kajang after numerous efforts to raise money to purchase the tickets failed.

“After investigation, the family was given assistance and they have arrived safely in Sabah thanks to the zakat assistance under Ibnu Sabil (those who have no sufficient provisions for their journey, provided they fulfill specific requirements), and an NGO,” he said.
