PETALING JAYA, 20 Mar: PKR today mobilised another latest ‘weapon’ in conjunction with the 13th General Elections (GE-13) by launching a combination app between smartphones and social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
The application has features such as latest news, electoral roll checking, an infographic bank filled with data and about big issues, and lecture videos, press conferences and campaign activities.
Also featured is twitter updates from the top leaders, event schedules and speeches of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and a profile bank of PKR candidates (after the nomination).
PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli said that PKR is the first political party to develop the integrated App to disseminate information throughout the GE campaign through social media.
He said that the Application named “PRU 13 PKR” (GE 13 PKR) has been developed for the Apple and Android platforms at this time.
“It will be able for download on iTunes and Market Place from the week beginning 25 March 2013 with the estimate that the House of Representatives will be dissolved no later than that week.
“PKR will promote this App starting today through a preview video which is available on Youtube,” he said.
Meanwhile, PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during the launching said that the role of social media is important because democracy is hampered by media access which is not free in this country.
“So that this application can be benefited from and it will be a great and fair competition by giving a choice to the people to listen to arguments and to evaluate views given,” said Anwar.
