Destroy data, EC impedes Selangor voters’ democracy process

BY ERMIZI MUHAMAD

PUTRAJAYA, SEP 27: The State Government is disappointed with the Election Commission (EC) for destroying the data of 136,000 voters in the state.

Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Exco, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said that action violated the country’s principles of constitutional democracy.

That, according to him, has led to complications for the State Government to present evidence to protest the EC’s delineation of political boundaries.

“This issue relates to Constitutional sentiments and may impede Selangor citizens’ rights to vote in a fair election system to choose the government through a democratic process.

spr_600_1

“EC admitted that voters’ data have been destroyed and of course we are very disappointed with this action.

“That impedes our process to obtain the evidence,” he said to reporters at the Istana Kehakiman compound this morning.

Prior to this, the Federal Court has dismissed the State Government’s demand for EC to present the 136,000 voters’ data which was claimed to be destroyed.

Besides that, the court had also rejected State Government’s appeal relating to the original document report used to register as a voter and the computer software application, Geographical Information System (GIS) used in the delineation process in Selangor.

Meanwhile, lawyer, Latheefa Khoya informed that a judicial review will be made for an extension of the case management to stop the approval for the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s new delineation report process to resume in Parliament.

Budiman deflects from the issue of PM’s visit to strengthen America’s economy

BY HAFIZAN TAIB

SHAH ALAM, SEP 26: Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs Exco, Elizabeth Wong denied claims by Sungai Besar Member of Parliament, Budiman Mohd Zohdi, that the State Government is hypocritical in its effort to attract Chinese investors to Selangor.

In contrary to the Federal Government’s visit led by the Prime Minister, she said Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s visit to the country was to increase investment in the richest state in this country.

“It was not a smart statement coming from an Assemblyman moreover from a Member of Parliament representing Sungai Besar.

“The State Government, particularly Dato’ Menteri Besar went to China to foster friendship and good relation between both parties while at the same time making the effort to get investments into Selangor,” she said.

Amerika

She said that in response to Budiman’s statement accusing PAKATAN of being hypocritical when Mohamed Azmin’s visit to China to attract investors was seen as riding on the Prime Minister’s earlier initiatives.

The Bukit Lanjan Member of Parliament said, every Menteri Besar’s responsibility is to attract investment and for that, Mohamed Azmin did not only went to China but to other countries too.

“I think Budiman was speaking to divert attention on the Prime Minister’s visit to America which was very different compared to Mohamed Azmin’s initiatives for Selangor.

“Dato’ Menteri Besar went to China to secure investment and not to handover aid or contribution to them.

“Najib on the contrary, went to America, we do not know what is the investment, but he offered for Malaysian Government to use public money to invest there, buying aircrafts and other things,” she said.
