KUALA LUMPUR, 13 September: the Keadilan Youth Movement (AMK) has urged the police to investigate and take action against any party that tries to bother the PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his family.

AMK Deputy Information Chief, Rozan Azen Mat Rasip said that the action is necessary to protect the safety of Anwar and his family.

This is due to the statement by the President of JMM, Azwanddin Hamzah, who vowed to stalk Anwar wherever he went, including Anwar’s home in Bukit Segambut in Kuala Lumpur starting from yesterday.

Rozan stated this in his police report at the Jinjang Police Station in Kuala Lumpur against the NGO, the Malaysian Malay Network (JMM) which plans to harass Anwar.

Rozan said that Azwanddin’s statement is seen as harassing and stalking Anwar and his family.
“Additionally, it creates public distrust, especially from Anwar’s neighbourhood in Bukit Segambut on the real motives of the NGO.

“Furthermore, taking into account Anwar’s status as a Member of Parliament and the Malaysian Parliament Opposition Leader,” he said.

New Insulation Project to Mitigate Floods

6

SHAH ALAM, SEPT 9: A flood insulation project will be implemented by the State Government to overcome flash floods from occurring in some areas in Shah Alam and Klang recently.

Executive Councillor for Youth, Sports, Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi said that this project will be implemented immediately in areas that have been identified, namely Sungai Rasah and its surrounding areas.

6.2

“Among the proposals by the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) is to raise the banks around the affected areas to prevent water from spilling out onto the nearby roads and tolls,” Yunus said in a statement.

He said that the water flow of drains and ditches which are narrow before merging has caused bottlenecks, resulting in water overflowing into the river.

“The State Government has also identified some areas that frequently experience flash floods due to drainage problems which are not managed well, blocked and so on, such as in Kampung Padang Jawa, to be upgraded to be better,” he said.

The State Government will take immediate action for the intersection of Jalan Batu Tiga Lama and Jalan Sungai Rasah by enlarging the drains and ditches because of frequent flooding.

6.3

He added that he and a group of officers from the DID will survey the area a day before flooding occurs.

“The State Government will monitor areas which are classified as potential areas that experience flash floods so that early prevention can be done before an even bigger disaster happens.

Yunus did not rule out the possibility that unusual rainfall has caused flash flooding.

“Cooperation from the local residents and the people of Selangor is required so as to not make drains and ditches an instant waste disposal site causing it to be ‘stuck and too full’,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abd Halim said that Selangor is among the top states in the country to record non-Muslim converts to Islam every year.

“Last year, statistics showed about 1,500 converts and this year, as of July, almost 1,400 people have converted to Islam.

“Not just Indians and Chinese, but other races such as Kadazan, the people of Sabah, Sarawak, including those from abroad such as the Philippines, have embraced Islam in Selangor,” he said.

CM: Humanity Solidarity Across Differences

4

SHAH ALAM, SEPT 7: The differences in race and culture, differences in opinions and political affiliation should not be a barrier to unite against tyranny and oppression, stressed Selangor Chief Minster, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

He said that all parties should set aside differences and equally discuss a solution affecting the Muslim brotherhood, especially in the killing tragedies of the people of Egypt, Syria and Palestine.

“Solidarity is the embodiment of a sense of caring and selfless attitude which guarantees the existence of shared prosperity,” stressed Abdul Khalid in his speech emphasising policies that protect and restore the rights and dignity as human beings.

“The things happening in Syria, Egypt, Palestine and Burma show that people are losing their humanity. Human life no longer has worth. Civilians, men, women and children become victims of bullets, poison gas and chemical weapons,” he said.

Abdul Khalid said this when delivering a speech at the Humanity Solidarity Assembly organised with the State Government at Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam last night.

Also present was the PKR De Factor Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, PAS Vice-President, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, leaders of Malaysian Islamic NGOs such as the Malaysian Muslim Youth Movement (Abim), Wadah Pencerdasan Umat Malaysia (wadah), the IKRAM Association of Malaysia (Ikram), the Malaysian National Association of Muslim Students (PKPIM), and over 5,000 attendees.

“While we are not able to be at the forefront to defend the plight of the oppressed, we can at least show our solidarity as a sign of sympathy towards the plight of those stricken with misfortune and disaster,” said Abdul Khalid.

The programme started with Maghrib prayers and a premier lecture by Ustaz Jel Fathullah Al-Anshori who was specially brought from Indonesia.

The programme continues with prayers of well-wishes and Qunut Nazilah, as well as a presentation of the video ‘Egypt Cries’ and a ‘Tears of Syria’ Flash Mob. Meanwhile, the highlight of the programme was the launching of the ‘Malaysia 4 R4bia’ campaign.
