Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said that the ability of the coalition in governing Putrajaya has already been proven by administering four states better, after GE-12, than in the BN administration era.

2013: Efforts Doubled to Meet The People’s Ideals + CM Video

4.1

SHAH ALAM, 31 Dec: For four years since March 2008, the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor Government has successfully governed the state well and with satisfaction.

As noted in the National Audit Department Report, particularly on the state’s finances which have been managed efficiently and prudently.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the Selangor government has successfully managed to increase government cash reserves from RM400 million in 2008 to RM2.5 billion as of October 2012.

4.2

“Around RM800 million has been given back to the people through more than 20 welfare programmes in the ‘Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor’ (MES or Localising the Selangor Economy) policy,” said Abdul Khalid in his 2013 New Year’s address.

He explained that the State Government is working hard to improve the standard of living of every citizen without practising discrimination.

“It is fair that my thanks go out to the people of Selangor for giving their support to the Pakatan Rakyat-led State Government since March, 2008.

“The Selangor State Government prioritises the people’s welfare of all races, all religion, every culture and regardless of their political affiliation,” said Abdul Khalid.

He added that the people and Selangor is fortunate to be ruled by a Sultan who is caring and concerned about the welfare and problems of the people.

For the Muslim people, His Royal Highness the Sultan, as the Head of Islam, always reminds Muslims to implement Islamic teachings.

For non-Muslims, from 2009, the State Government has allocated an amount of RM3 million and since 2010, a total of RM4 million (has been allocated) each year to assist non-Muslim places of worship.

4.3

“The Selangor Government administration is now showing a good level of administrative reform and with the reform, various achievements can be seen.

“In maintaining this success, I wish to convey a message to all people that this state belongs to all of us and the ‘Selangorku’ logo which we use, symbolises; “Selangor is always at the heart of the people”,” said Abdul Khalid.

He explained that Selangor is now trying to fulfil the needs of the people according to priority and ability.

This will be revealed in 2013, the State Government is preparing to start the construction of the third bridge in Klang which is over 2 kilometres with six lanes which before this, has been failed to be fulfilled by BN.

“By absorbing the cost of RM300 million, which will be fully using the State Government’s provisions,” he said

Abdul Khalid said that to meet the demands of various groups in owning their own homes, 6,470 low-cost housing units have been provided.

It was built with RM42 thousand and below per unit and has been successfully completed in the Petaling district, Hulu Langat, Gombak, Sepang and Kuala Selangor.

This amount does not include the 12,481 units that are currently under construction and are being planned.

For medium-cost houses, from RM100,000 and below, a total of 3,925 units have been completed in districts in Petaling, Klang, Hulu Langat, Gombak, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Kuala Langat.

4.4

“The Selangor Government extends our heartfelt gratitude to the people, of all walks of life for cooperating, allowing for Pakatan to bring about improvements for the welfare of the general public.

“I hope that the people’s support will continue up to five years, which is after the 13th General Elections.

“This is so that the current State Government will be able to double its efforts to meet the aspirations of the people through other programmes for the collective prosperity and well-being,” said Abdul Khalid.

2012 Curtain Closes: Selangor Government Further Strenghtens, the Envy of Umno-BN

1.1

1.3

COMMENTS: As the 2012 curtain comes to a close, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) continues to prove its ability to govern states under its leadership with many resounding successes throughout its reign.

1.2

Among the achievements that are considered as major milestones of PR in 2012 includes the acknowledgement of the Auditor General, headed by Tan Sei Ambrin Buang, towards good fiscal management by Selangor, Penang, Kedah and Kelantan Governments.

According to the Auditor General’s 2011 Report (LKAN) which was tabled in Parliament on October 15, it clearly demonstrates the financial management of states under PR are far better, leaving behind states administered by Umno-BN.

Among the acclaimed in the LKAN report was that the monies raised by the Selangor Government has increased by R62.5 million compared to the previous year.

Selangor also recorded its own history when, for the first time, the State Government reserves reached more than RM2.5 billion.

Apart from that, the response of the people of Selangor towards various agendas under the ‘ Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor’ by the State Government has also been the envy of Umno-BN.

Until September 30, 2012, the State Government has spent RM766,913,379 for the success of 16 assistance programmes or assistance schemes, for the people of Selangor since the programme was launched.

At the same time, a total of 166,441 people of Selangor and 1,303,601 households have received various benefits from the programmes.

Among the programmes introduced are Free Water Supply, Selangor Microcredit Scheme (SkimSel), Children’s University Entrance Gift, Golden Age Friendly Scheme (SMUE), Selangor Children Heritage Fund (TAWAS), People’s Tuition Centre, Urban Microcredit Scheme (MiMBAR), Selangor Kindergarten Assistance Scheme (TUNAS) and People’s Care Assistance Scheme (SiKembar) as well as others.

Umno-BN Fights With Slander

1.3

Thus, it is not surprising when Umno-BN madly attacked and defamed the Selangor State Government to ensure that the richest state returns to to them.

Among the insane actions taken by Umno_BN includes the fictitious ‘Selangor Water Crisis’ advertisement project which was held at an apartment in Petaling Jaya on September 24.

However, this immoral political game shattered when several media, including TV Selangor itself, managed to sniff out the such activities.

On location of the filming, TV Selangor managed to be informed by several actors that they had paid RM50 for the success of several profanities describing ‘Water Crisis in Selangor’.

1.4

The filming also became hilarious when tankers supposedly supplying water to ‘victims of water crisis’ did not only no carry a drop of water, but the ‘victims’ themselves took tap water before filling it into buckets which were brought as filming props.

The residents were unhappy with the action and also notified that their homes have never experiences water outages as the fictional film was trying to depict.

Meanwhile in October, residents at Taman Medan Cahaya also became victims of Umno-BN’s dirty politics when they were manipulated to participate in a demonstration demanding 20 cubic metres of free water from the State Government.

1.5

However, the Block B Resident’s Association Chairman, Mohamad Fuad Jam Jam and a resident of Block H of the apartments involved, A Ramlee Yahya, informed that the involved apartment had already received free water supply since 2011.

In addition to that, Mohamad Faud also informed that before the demonstration was held, the association was informed by the demonstration organisers that the main purpose of the demonstration was to protest the publication of a film that insulted Prophet Muhammad, thus causing confusion among the residents.

Ever-Increasing Political Violence

Due to mounting pressure to return to power in PR states and to maintain power in Putrajaya, Umno-BN has been continuously acting insanely by violently hindering PR’s advancement.

1.6

Several violent incidences involving Umno-BN supporters against PR supporters at a ‘ceramah’ site, either in Selangor or other states, have become among the heated topics of 2012.

Lately, at an incident at Negeri Sembilan, ANAK Information Chief, Naraza Muda was wounded in the head and passed out after being beaten with a sharp stick by Umno-BN supporters in the Orange Travel Convoy on December 23 recently.

Meanwhile, two PR supporters also suffered injuries after being attacked by a sharp weapon by Umno-BN supporters at a PR ‘ceramah’ in Gombak on December 4.

1.7

Another most talked about Umno-BN violent incident in 2012 was the series of attack on the ‘People’s Freedom Tour’ (Jelajah Merdeka Rakyat) convoy including the ‘Independant People’ (Merdeka Rakyat) bus which PKR Opposition Leader, Datuk Anwar Ibrahim, was travelling in.

What’s more unfortunate was that the the police themselves did not show eagerness to overcome these violent political issues, thus letting it continue.

Malay Reserve Land Mortgaged

1.8

Apart from violent actions against supporters of the opposition party, Umno-BN also shamelessly plays the race card to scare Malay voters into thinking that they would lose their political power.

However, unfortunately for Umno-BN, their efforts did not cause the maximum impact that they expected when their violent acts were also ridiculed by the general public.

In addition, Umno-BN’s patriotic action was also wasted with the expose of the old party’s betrayal of selling State Government-owned land and Malay reserve lands.

Inn Selangor alone, from 1999 to 2008, an estimate of 24 land lots belonging to the State Government, with an estimated value of RM300 million, which was obtained by Umno-BN in the Umno-BN administration era, was sold at a low price or were transferred to third parties.

Umno-BN was also smart in easily making money by inserting their interests in every transaction of the sale of land to third parties.

1.9

Thus, the people of Selangor should make a wise decision in the upcoming elections in 2013.

If measures in terms of performance, it is not a difficult choice for the people of Selangor because performance records of over four years under the Selangor PR administration and the Umno-BN’s administration records of 55 years, tells everything.

Assemblymen Provisions To Benefit The People

4.1

KLANG, 30 Dec: An allocation of RM500 thousand given by the Selangor State Government to every assemblymen in this state will be utilised for the development and welfare of every citizen in their respective areas.

For Kota Alam Shah Assemblyman, Manoharan Malayalam, the allocation given to him will be fully utilised to repair and upgrade several infrastructural facilities such as jogging tracks and playgrounds for the people in his area.

He said that the due to the prudent and thrifty usage of provisions, a total of six housing estates in Kota Alam Shah will enjoy the convenience of the jogging track.

“Due to this thrifty usage of allocations, we are able to provide facilities such as modern jogging tracks, with each costing RM100 thousand,” he said.

He was met at friendly gathering programme in conjunction with the Kota Alam Shah district Christmas and New Year celebrations which was held at the Kota Alam Shah District Service Centre and was attended by 300 residents of various races.

Manoharan also informed that almost 60 percent of the Assemblymen provisions given to him was used to provide educational assistance, specifically for people with low and medium income.

He said that he is providing assistance for school fees, fees for student transportation, and other assistance such as school bags and so on.

“I have also given a token of RM200 to every student that obtained all A’s in all subjects in school to appreciate their efforts,” he said.

Apart from that, he will also place importance in health and medical aid for the welfare of the people in his area.

Rafizi: Zahid Hamidi Accused of Using Money from the Armed Forces Fund Board to Shut Deepak’s Mouth

4

PETALING JAYA, 29 Dec: PKR Strategic Director, Rafizi Ramli claimed that the use of money from the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) worth RM160 million was done solely to shut the mouth of carpet businessman, Deepak Jaikishen, in relation to his disclosure that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak was involved in P Balasubramaniam’s Second Statutory Declaration.

He said that there was a sudden transaction involving RM30 million to buy 80 percent of shares by Astacanggih and RM130 million to buy a 200 acres from Awan Megah Sdn Bhd is an abuse of power by the Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi and Najib Razak.

“This transaction was fully financed by Bakti Wira Development Sdn Bhd, a property investment company wholly owned by Bousted Holdings Bhd, owned by LTAT,” he said at a press conference at the PKR headquarters today.

Doubts arose seeing that this transaction did not meet good investment guidelines because based on a review by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Astacanggih is a company that has never filed a financial statement and has a paid up capital of RM20 million.

According to SSM reports, this company is also burdened with a debt of RM98 million from the Kuwait Finance House.

He explained that Zahid Hamidi should be careful in ensuring good investments are made by Wira Bakti Development Sdn Bhd as it involves the interests of the armed forces, seeing that the capital and activities of Boustead Holdings Berhad relies heavily on contributions from their pay cuts which are being channelled through LTAT.

“Valuation of RM30 million for 80 percent of Astacanggih’s issued shares has no basis. Bousted Holdings Berhad’s statement that the value of RM30 million was reach from the agreement between the buyer and seller that proves that the transaction was made based on political considerations and not commercial investment.

“The payment of RM130 million for 200 acres of land where its status is still pending transfer to Awan Megah Sdn Bhd means that Zahid Hamidi took the RM130 million from the armed forces’ contributions to pay to a company owned by Umno leaders without any exchange of assets pending transfer, as well as not using independent valuation,” he said.

However, Boustead Holdings Berhad’s official announcement to Brusa Malaysia gave the excuse that the purchase of land is in accordance with the existing land banks owned by Boustead’s subsidiary company, Jendela Nikmat Sdn Bhd at Bukit Raja, Klang.

“Examination of records show that the 236 hectares of land transferred to Jendela Hikmat Sdn Bhd is valued at RM230 million at the end of 2005.

“This means that the surrounding land already owned by Boustead Holdings are valued around RM390,000 per acre compared to recent transactions involving Awan Megah paying RM650,000 per acre for land whose status has not been transferred,” he said.

In relation to that, Rafizi will review all payments made by Deepak to certain parties that are connected to Najib Razak as the allegation still has no credibility and validity.

Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi on 30 November 2012 announced to the media that he will answer all Deepak’s allegations against Najib Razak at the Umno General Assembly, however he failed to do so the next day.

Taxi Driver’s Fate More Secure If PR Governs

4

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) guarantees to safeguard the welfare and future of taxi drivers across the country when the coalition governs Putrajaya after the upcoming 13th General Elections.

PKR Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that taxi drivers are entitled to obtain taxi permits as it is within their rights.

“Rich people should be ashamed of taking taxi permits from the sweat and blood of those struggling.

“We will ask them to surrender the taxi permits and we will return them to taxi drivers,” Anwar said.

4.1

He said this during a mass gathering of taxi drivers with Pakatan Rakyat leaders held last night at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Civic Hall .

Anwar explained that cabbies play a important role in shaping the country’s future by being agents of bringing change to society.

This can be implemented with taxi drives proactively explaining to passengers the current critical condition of the country.

“Taxi drivers can become agents of change when transporting dozens of passengers every day by providing explanation to save this country,” he said.

“99 percent of taxi drivers know the struggle of the people, hates the tyranny of the Barisan Nasional government.

“The services of my brothers (cabbies) to this fight is great,” he said.

He said that taxi drivers should give a clear message to leaders of the Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN) government at GE-13, so that their well-being can be taken care of.

Anwar also slammed Umno-BN leadership of trying to divert issues faced by cabbies by giving them free tyres while issues surrounding permits have not been resolved.

“Najib failed to give permits only to drivers or individuals, he only knows how to give TR1M tyres that only can last for six months.

“He (Najib) has failed to understand the plight of taxi drivers in getting permits,” he said.

More than 600 taxi drivers attended the gathering to express support for PR to bring about changes to the taxi transportation system in this country.

Also present were Selangor Exco – Ronnie Liu, Puchong MP- Gobind Singh Deo, Petaling Jaya Selatan MP – Hee Loy Sian, Bukit Gantang MP – Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin and Deputy Chief Minister of Penang – Dr P Ramasamy.

4

In addition, it is hoped that assistance for lower groups will increase and be continued next year, they also hope that Selangor will improve and provide infrastructural facilities under its control.

For example Nasaruddin Mohd Yusof has not paid a single water bill since the State Government introduced the 20 cubic metre free water scheme four years ago.

“Hopes for 2013 are that PR remains administering Selangor and would win at Putrajaya so as to focus programmes to care for the plight of low-income, private sector workers like me,” said the 39 year old security officer.

He also hopes that the State Government will increase more religious schools and will be more stringent in combating gambling machine activities throughout Selangor.

Apart from benefiting from the free water scheme, Sembagavalli Kaniapan, 35, also benefited from the ‘Back to School’ programme which was created by the State Government.

“‘The ‘Back to School’ programme helped lessen by burdens by a lot, especially with the increase in price of goods, and with this savings, I am able to finance my other needs,” said Sembagavalli.

Several senior citizens from Sembagavalli are also participants in the ‘Jom Shopping’ and ‘Case of Deaths’ programmes under the Golden Age Friendly Scheme (SMUE).

Sembagavalli hopes that the State Government will intensify efforts to help low-income earners in 2013.

Hamidah Salam from Batu Tiga, Shah Alam, also hopes that the State Government will endeavour projects to overcome flood problems that often happens in her residential area.

“Hopefully, in 2013, the State Government will able to provide assistance to flood victims and promptly overcome the flooding problem in Kebun Bunga,” she said, who is also a recipient of school assistance programmes from the State Government this year.

In addition, Hashim Bulat said that he hopes that the State Government will increase information programmes explaining state policies so that more people will know and apply for assistance.

“The State Government has already established various programmes to ensure that people from all walks of life in Selangor benefit from the State Government’s revenue,” he said.

Selangor Chief Minister’s Christmas Day Message

2

Malaysians are famous for multiple celebrations. Its trait as a plural society has made Malaysia among the unique countries in the world in terms of culture and beliefs of its citizens. And Christmas is one of the compositions of that faith.

If we observe the positive spirit infused in this celebration, Christmas brings the symbol of friendship and unity of the various races in this country. In fact, the culture of visiting each other and helping each other has become a tradition in our society and has been embedded as a compulsory agenda in the process of appreciation across religions and cultures.

Not only that, the festival highlighted with a public holiday has brought tremendous joy to most people. Although it is not celebrated on the factor of different beliefs, the holiday has certainly become an indirect platform for solidarity between Christians and non-Christians in this country.

Which is why Selangor has always made harmonious relationships between races and the well-being of the religious community a strong peg that must be followed by every state government agenda.

Every progress and improvement of the people’s quality of life has been lit till its roots so that implementation of positive values instilled in every belief and religion remains preserved.

It is not surprising that under the current government administration, apart from providing assistance to the development of Islam, we are also providing special provisions to help the management of worship places such as Christian churches, Buddhist and Hindu temples as well as other religions.

This matter is important so that every citizen in the state of Selangor will obtain fair and impartial assistance. This mechanism has been used throughout our given mandate. Hopefully, this will continue to be accepted by the people and will continue to be trusted by the people, especially in Selangor.

Therefore, as a representative of the Selangor State Government, I am pleased to wish everyone Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to the Christian citizens of Selangor.

Thank you.

TAN SRI DATO ‘ABDUL KHALID BIN IBRAHIM
Chief Minister of Selangor

State Government to Intensify Efforts to Attract Local Investment

2

SUBANG JAYA, 24 Dec: Increasing competition from the regional economy has prompted the State Government to intensify efforts to attract local investment to stimulate economic growth.

Investment, Industry and Trade Exco, Teresaa Kok said that it is expected that competition for foreign investment among ASEAN countries will increase in the coming year.

“With the weak global economic situation, Malaysia is expected to face tough challenges, particularly from East Asian countries, to attract foreign investors.

“Therefore, we have to come forward and offer more attractive investments to compete or take a prudent step in practising local reinvestment initiatives,” the Kinrara Assemblywoman said.

She added that the priority given by the State Government to successful local investors makes Selangor the largest contributor of investment in Malaysia.

This can be seen in this year’s investment statics where 71 percent or RM5.47 billion from the total investment in Selangor came from local investors.

While only 29 percent or RM2.21 billion, came from foreign investment.

“In addition, this step will also be beneficial to local investors to compete healthily while bringing profit to the country’s economic development,” she added.

Until last September, the State Government recorded a total investment of RM7.68 billion, covering 24 percent of the total investments in the country.

Tunas Targets 5,000 to Receive Kindergarten Assistance Next Year

1.1

SEPANG, 24 Dec: Application conditions for the Selangor Kindergarten Assistance Scheme (Tunas) will be relaxed to expand the scheme participation to 5,000 recipients next year.

“Therefore, I hope for cooperation from various parties including Assemblymen, DUN Coordinators, Village Heads and all parties in order to help ensure the success of this scheme,” she said.

The Tunas Scheme under the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES or Localising the Selangor Economy) agenda

For trader, Mohd Azhar Mahmud, 38, the assistance will help ease his burdens.

“I am happy with this assistance, although little, it at least helps traders like me,” he said.

Another recipient, Aznita Nor Othman, 28, from Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi hopes that the assistance will continue to help low-income families.

“This proves the State Government’s concern, for example I have three children, I am not working and I depend on my husband who is only a factory worker,” she said.
