Faekah: Mahathir A Liability To Najib’s 1Malaysia Slogan

Open Letter To Tun Dr. Mahathir By Faekah

The statement issued by former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed in Klang recently, I think, has crossed the line and is more of a liability to the 1Malaysia slogan which is being carried by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Dr Mahathir claimed that the future and privileges of the Malay community, as well as the purity of Islam will be threatened if Pakatan Rakyat remains in power in Selangor.

His statement shows that he has been long left behind in the country’s political development.

Dr Mahathir is still singing old songs; songs of racism and those that scare the Malay community, as well as to refresh ethnic clashes after the seeds of hatred on race and people of other religious affiliations which he planted among the people in his 22-year reign.

Dr Mahathir should be aware that when he expresses words of insult on Islam, he was in the Royal Town of Klang, the town of the Selangor Sultanate pride.

The Pakatan Rakyat administration has handed over Islamic religious affairs to the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) and to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) without political interference.

Indeed, the head of Islam in this state is His Royal Highness (DYMM) the Sultan of Selangor and he safeguards the sanctity of Islam and is always defending the interests of the Muslims.

The state government agrees, obeys and respects whatever decision the Sultan of Selangor makes in regards to the purity and development of Islam. How then is it possible that the sanctity of Islam can be threatened under the administration of Pakatan Rakyat. Dr Mahathir’s accusations is extreme outspokenness, that even insults the Religious and Royal Institutions of this state.

In Selangor, JAIS has been given the highest allocation in the State Budget; exceeding RM130 million a year. In terms of development, we have spent more than RM405 million to build mosques and religious schools, and more than RM46 million to restore mosques and religious schools throughout the period of 2008-2012.

m2

We have also increased the allowances of KAFA School teachers from RM400 during the administration of Dr Mahathir to RM1300 today. The recognition which we have given is one of the ways we increase religious knowledge among Malay-Muslim students as human capital investment.

Instead, during the administration of Dr Mahathir, the People’s Religious Schools and Tahfiz Schools were often threatened with dissolution. Various superficial reasons were given by Dr Mahathir.

There have also been a lot of derogatory statements which he issued then, among them were; Malay children who were in morning sessions at national schools and who go to religious schools in the afternoons will be tired and weak in their studies.Seeing that there are not many benefits to attending religious schools in the afternoon, just memorise prayers of grace and for going to the toilet alone.

For Dr Mahathir, the practice of staying up late to perform Qiamullail only makes Malay children lack sleep thus weakening their brain cells, making them slow and left behind in their studies.

The people in this state has yet to forget the insult and if it is necessary to state one by one, the way Dr Mahathir has treated Islam as well as the insults against Muslims, we ourselves will feel embarrassed by the non-Malays and the non-Muslims because there are those among us who has such an ugly attitude. Suddenly today, Dr Mahathir is trying to be a champion of religion.

It is true what a famous Ulama in this said, that a person who is called ‘Ex’ means that their words and their views are no longer relevant. Do not turn to look, just let them yell without paying heed..

This is very appropriate with Dr Mahathir’s current situation. It seems like he is still having illusions and experiencing denial symptoms that he has been a ‘former’ for nearly 10 years.

Dr Mahathir also made evil allegations that the fate of the Malay community might be compromised if the opposition rules Selangor. Mahathir needs to know that Umno is the opposition in Selangor; unhesitantly issuing words and slips of the tongue is indeed the nature of a 10-year former who fails to accept the fact that power is not his anymore.

We do not deny that Dr Mahathir continued the New Economic Policy (NEP) with its original mission to help the Malay community. Unfortunately, it is clear that the policy failed in its implementation because of unfair distribution of wealth and because it was not transparent.

Cronyism; enriching those with connections have become widespread and is made ‘halal’ on the basis of safeguarding the interests of the Malay community. The 30 percent target for Malay equity was not met because of abuse of power and corruption practised.

Only a handful of Malays who have contact with Umno leaders enjoy the privileges while the majority of the Malay community are left behind and remains in their old position.

To Dr Mahathir, Malays mean Halim Saad, Tajudin Ramli, Syed Mokhtar and a handful of other names including Mokhzani and Mukhriz Mahathir. Does Dr Mahathir mean that safeguarding the interests of the Malays is to protect the interest of the handful of names above?

It is not our policy to expose what Umno has done during their rule in Selangor. We note that because of their gluttony, they robbed the state revenue and thus they were punished in 2008.

However, Dr Mahathir’s extreme accusations have made me excited to reveal some of what is said to be ‘safeguarding Malay interests’. Through random checks, we have found hundreds of acres of land owned by Umno Selangor on the basis of Malays and Bumiputera.

m3

When this was revealed recently at the Selangor State Assembly, they arrogantly asked what was wrong with taking the people’s land because they claim that it was them who developed this state!!

Hundreds of acres of land were acquired by only paying the bare minimum premium of RM100 for every acre. Most of the land has now been developed and sold for hundreds of millions to private companies that are not owned by the Bumiputera community.

I do not mean to question the ownership of land by non-Bumiputeras but the hypocritical attitude of Umno which is so insufferable. Strangely, when selling the property to private companies at a massive profit, they do not cheer ‘Long Live Malays’!!

Why did Dr Mahathir not prevent these Umno leaders from forfeiting the land of these Malays to non-Malays? Where has the proclaimed sovereignty, dignity and self-worth of Malays gone?

We also found that during the reign of Umno in Selangor, thousands of acres of Malay Reserve Land located in the city were pulled out and turned into freehold. The land was then replaced by land in the outskirts of villages such as Panchang Bedena, Sabak Bernam and in Hulu Selangor.

Therefore Malay Reserve Land is located far from the city because to Umno, Malays should live deep in villages.

Because of that too, when the Pakatan Rakyat government endeavoured to increase the standard of living of the Malay community by giving the opportunity to own world-class assets such as the Datum Jelatek development, Umno vociferously objected to the development. Umno wants Malays to remain trading at stalls with the mentality of stall owners.

Dr Mahathir also is the person responsible for introducing the concept of privatisation in this country.Just like DEB, privatisation also has noble aims however the flawed execution and errant ways have become a burden to the people, but heaven to cronies and Umno leaders.

The closest example for Selangor is the privatisation of the water concessions. Although lacking in expertise and financial capability, but because he is the Treasurer of Umno Selangor, a Malay, thus the water industry concession which is worth billions of ringgit was given to him.

He finally enjoyed extreme wealth on the misery of the people who have to bear the water bill which does not correspond with the services rendered. Not one word was heard from Dr Mahathir when the people of Selangor fought to defend their water rights. Dr Mahathir pretended to live in a different world.

m4

Where was Dr Mahathir’s voice when we discovered Umno’s betrayal when they gave thousands of acres of land and hundreds of millions of ringgits in contracts to Tan Sri Chan Ah Chai through the Talam Group of Companies? Why was Mahathir quiet when we revealed that Talam owed RM392 million to the people of Selangor for almost a decade, which was failed to be claimed by Umno?

Does Dr Mahathir know that Pakatan Rakyat has the political power to collect these debts? Has Dr Mahathir realised that Pakatan Rakyat has returned the RM390 million to the poor people in this state, most of whom are Malays?

We cannot fathom how he could accuse Pakatan Rakyat of destroying the Malay community unless we accept the fact that age has weakened his power of thought.

Earlier I tried to not remind of the damage done by Dr Mahathir to most of the important institutions in the country, which for 22 years, was under his rule.

The police, the Judiciary, Public Service, all have chaotic and have lost their integrity. But seeing that he is excited about playing the ‘de facto’ Prime Minister maybe because the current Prime Minister is so weak and has failed, therefore the people, especially the Malays who ‘easily forget’ should be reminded that a person named Mahathir who caused chaos to the Malay union, especially during the dark incident of the 1988 Judicial Body and the ‘Mata Lebam’ (Bruised Eye) incident in 1998.

This has yet to touch on how Malaysia lost billions of ringgit in the currency game by his confidant who i currently the Deputy Minister of Finance.

The exposure of (the late) Barry Wain in his book stating that during the administration of Dr Mahathir, Malaysia lost at least RM100 billion because of corruption and abuse of power, has still yet to be answered by him till this day.

The latest serious issue is when the investigation of the Royal Commission of Sabah Citizenship revealed Dr Mahathir’s direct involvement in selling citizenship to foreigners (who were certainly not Malay) merely to stay in power.
Without shame or regret towards the people of Malaysia, Dr Mahathir admitted to it and was even willing to drag the late Tunku Abdul Rahman into the issue.

It feel as though there are no suitable or worthy words that can be said about the man named Mahathir when we reflect on all the damage he had done. Far deep in my heart I think that surely Dr Mahathir is grateful that the Internal Security Act (ISA) has been abolished in this country.Sometimes I think, would it be best if it were the opposite..!!!

SECRETARY OF POLITICS
TO THE HONOURABLE CHIEF MINISTER OF SELANGOR

CM: Datum Jelatek Project Benefits The Bumiputera Community

8

SHAH ALAM, 7 Mar: Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim expressed that the Datum Jelatek Project development in Keramat should proceed as it benefits the country, the state and the Bumiputera community.

According to him, it is the duty of the State Government to explain the benefits of the project which is to be developed by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) to certain quarters who are objecting to the project.

“I think the have the right to object and I have the right to explain what I want to do.

“In the end, it is the best for the people, there are no personal interests,” he said when asked by reporters at the State Secretariat building today.

Previously, Abdul Khalid denied allegations that the Malay community in Jelatek, Kuala Lumpur, will be marginalised due to the Datum Jelatek mixed development project.

Instead the Malay population who sold their homes for the project received profit many times over when PKNS paid them RM300,000.

Abdul Khalid explained that the high premium of RM300,000 means that the owners of the low-cost apartments for which their houses we bought for the project received profits of almost RM280,000 each.

This is because the original price of their low-cost apartments are just around RM 20,000.

The profit enables the residents involved to buy another residence which is far more comfortable that their original two bedroom apartments

The Datum Jelatek development has also increased the Gross Development Value (GDV) to RM1 billion, with 50 percent of it being owned by Bumiputeras.

Free Water Continued, State Government Hopes Takeover of Water Industry Will Avoid Tariff Increase

2.1

AMPANG, 24 FEB: While supporting the State Government’s efforts to takeover the water industry, the residents here hopes that the free 20 cubic metres of water scheme will be continued should Pakatan Rakyat (PR) return to govern Selangor in the upcoming election.

After listening to a briefing at the Water Forum here, the people fear that the water tariff will increase again should Umno-BN return to rule Selangor.

this is because according to the 2004 Water Privatisation Agreement, Syabas is authorised to increase water tariffs by 37 percent in 2009 and 25 percent in 2012.

The increase was prevented by Selangor PR when it started to govern the state in 2008, the same year the State Government introduced the 20 cubic metres of free water scheme.

2.2

The Chairman of the Bandar Baru Ampang Residents Association, Cheah Ken Voon, 63, said that the people in Selangor has never experienced the benefits of free water when the State was under the Umno-BN Government.

Thus, he said, the water forum organised by the State Government has opened the eyes of the public regarding the true facts of the alleged water crises which is being manipulated by the Federal Government and the Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas – Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor).

“Thanks to the State Government’s efforts to provide information to the people about the alleged water crises in this state.

“Overall, the people cannot deny that we have received the benefits of free water from the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government since 2008.

“In fact, we also hope that Syabas or even the Central Government will stop politicising the water issue and to surrender the management of water operations to the State Government immediately in the interest of the people,” he said.

The ‘Water For The People’ Forum was held here at the Bandar Baru Ampang Public Hall today. The briefing at the forum was presented by Klang MP, Charles Santiago.

2.3

Kasim Zaini, 53, described the State Government’s efforts to takeover the water services industry in Selangor and the Klang Valley from Syabas proves that the Selangor PR administration truly cares about the people’s interest.

He said that in fact, the water privatisation only hurts the people and largely profits concessionaires.

“Water is a fundamental need of the people. So, is this facility continue to be privatised, it will burden the people.

“The concessionaires will continue to seek out profits at the expense of the people.

“Therefore, this State Government effort to takeover the water management should be supported one hundred percent for the future of us all,” he said.

Last week, the State Government had offered RM9.65 billion to all four of the concessionaires to takeover the operations of treatment and supply of water from them.

The concessionaires are Syabas, Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd, Konsortium Abbas Sdn Bhd (Abbas) and Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Holding (Splash).

Taman Sentosa Receives Affordable Housing

1.1

KLANG, 19 FEB: The State Government will build Affordable Housing (RMM) in Taman Sentosa and its surrounding areas to meet the needs of the people when the flood situation in the are is under control in the future.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the plan was made between the State Government and the developer after taking into account the value and potential of the area.

Abdul Khalid said that the demand for housing and commercial buildings in Taman Sentosa will increase after flood situations in the area is under control with the construction of a retention pond which will be completed later this year.

“Previously, planning undertaken did not follow proper procedures.

1.2

“We have given suggestions to the developer because apart from overcoming flooding it can increase the market value here,” said Abdul Khalid.

He said this at a news conference after the groundbreaking of the 19.562 acre Water Reservoir at Taman Sentosa yesterday.

Once completed, the reservoir will be able to reduce flooding in and around Taman Sentosa which stems from the lack of a proper irrigation and drainage system.

Other water reservoirs will also be built in Johan Setia, Jalan Tengku Kelana, Jalan Kebun Nenas, Klang Perdana and Bukit Tinggi.

On the same issue, the State Government will also address the Sungai Rasau flood problem in Shah Alam.

“We are trying to overcome this problem by raising the bridge in Batu Tiga to facilitate the flow of water, especially during the event of flooding.

“The State Government will see that the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) make plans to totally overcome flooding (problems),” he said.

Dolomite Can Clarify Batu Caves Project Controversy

4

SHAH ALAM, 13 FEB: The Selangor State Government will not prevent Dolomite Properties Sdn Bhd to provide clarification regarding the controversial construction of the Park Avenue condominiums in front of the Batu Caves.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the condominium developer can meet with the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) authorities to provide clarification.

“Dolomite has their own initiative because to obtain approval and planning, it has to be made through the Selayang Local Authorities.

“So whatever Dolomite’s consultants want to clarify, they can explain to MPS.

“And if necessary, MPS will present their views to be discussed during the state planners’ meeting,” he told reporters in a press conference after chairing the State Executive Council Meeting (MKKN) here at the Secretariat Building.

He was responding to previous claims by the developer saying that the construction of the controversial Park Avenue condominium project is safe and will not adversely affect the environment.

On 24 January, Abdul Khalid announced the cancellation of the condominium project.

Meanwhile, the following day (25 January), developers claimed that they had previously tried to meet the Chief Minister and the relevant authorities but were not given the opportunity to submit their explanation.

The controversy surrounding the construction of the condominium surfaced following protests from the Hindu community, wanting the project to be brought to a halt.

It was previously reported that Dolomite Properties obtained approval from MPS to develop the project in 2007.

Jelatek Malays Profits Many Times Over From Datum Jelatek Project

2

KUALA SELANGOR, 11 FEB: The Selangor Government denied allegations that the Malay community in Jelatek, Kuala Lumpur, were marginalised due to the Datum Jelatek mixed development project.

Instead, the Malay residents who sold their homes for the project profited many times over when the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) paid RM 300,000 to them.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim also said that the Datum Jelatek luxury apartments ownership is open to all, including Malay buyers.

Abdul Khalid explained that the high premium of RM 300,000 meant that the resident’s low-cost apartments that were bought for the project received a profit of almost RM 280,000 per person.

This is because the original price of their low-cost apartments are just around RM 20,000.

The profit enables the residents involved to buy another residence which is far more comfortable that their original two bedroom apartments

According to Abdul Khalid, the purchase units of the RM700 million project will be open to all, especially Malay and Bumiputra investors from Malaysia.

“The are many Malays who are rich and able (for example) in Shah Alam, more than 50 percent of those living in high-cost houses are Malays,” said Abdul Khalid.

He said this after officiating the Ar-Rahman (Old) Mosque Diamond Jubilee Celebrations at Kampung Bukit Badong, Bestari Jaya.

Prior to this, it was reported that several Malay individuals who reside in the Datum Jelatek project area claimed that they were marginalised and were not paid a proportionate premium by PKNS.

Selangor Affordable Prefabricated Homes Do Not Exceed RM100,000

2

SHAH ALAM, 8 FEB: Experts from within the country and overseas will be called by the State Government regarding the “Affordable Prefabricated Homes” project which will begin implementation through the 2013 Budget.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that foreign experts from the United Kingdom and Japan will be asked to give their opinions and suggestions in the best way to construct the houses.

He said that as a result of the construction, people will be able to enjoy the cheap price of not more than RM100,000.

“In Selangor, particularly in Shah Alam, the current price of land is very high. Every five years, land price at R10 per (square) foot will become RM30 per (square) foot. If land prices are high, more people want to buy it.

“So for those who cannot afford it, we will provide them with affordable housing. And as a State Government policy, any land development within 10 acres of land, must have an affordable housing project,” he said to reporters after officiating the Land Management Workshop for the years 2008-2012.

Also present were; the Director of PTGS, Datuk Kamarulzaman Jamil and Selangor’s Welfare, Women’s Affairs, Science, Technology, Innovation and Culture Exco, Rodziah Ismail.

Last November, during the State Legislative Assembly (DNS) sitting, a total of RM50 million was allocated for the construction of Affordable Homes through the Affordable Prefabricated Homes Package project which will be operated by the Selangor Housing and Property Board through the 2013 Budget.

The initiative aims to help people who are burdened by skyrocketing housing prices in the market currently.

The project is believed to balance out high prices in the trend of housing price boom as a result of market demand and supply caused by excessive profit-taking among developers.

Through this project, the State Government intends to repair the effects of market prices caused by competition in speculative activities in the real estate business.

CM: Always Supporting PKNS Efforts In Building Affordable Housing

1.1

HULU SELANGOR, 8 FEB: Another Affordable Housing (RMM) project developed by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) known as Project Idaman PKNS Antara Gapi will be available in December 2014.

This is the third Affordable Housing project developed by PKNS after Bukit Botak Selayang and Bandar Baru Bangi.

PKNS Deputy General Manager, Ir Abdul Ghani Hashim said that the project will house 129 units of 1 1/2-storey terrace houses with prices starting from RM100,000 – RM120,000, depending on the size of the lot.

“PKNS is subsiding RM4.2 million apart from offering attractive prices,” he said.

1.2

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the Selangor State Government always supported efforts to provide Affordable Housing to ensure that the people own their own homes.

He said that PKNS builds high-cost housing not for profit alone, but it is channeled to those who have yet to own a home.

He said that this is by giving subsidies to RMM projects such as giving RM79.6 million for the Bukit Botak project and RM12 million for the project at Bandar Baru Bangi.

“With PKNS’ achievement of not abandoning any projects, I hope that the people in Selangor will continue to give their support to PKNS,” he said.

Abdul Khalid said this at the PKNS Antara Gapi Ideal Homes Groundbreaking ceremony here at Serendah.

In the meantime, Housing, Building Management and Squatters Exco, Iskandar Abdul Samad said that the Selangor Government has established a Affordable Housing Technical Committee in efforts to accelerate the development of the project.

He said that the committee is chaired by the Selangor Properties Housing Authority and it consists of the Selangor Land and Mines Office as well as the Department of Town and Country Planning of Selangor.

“So far, a total of 942 applicants have filled out the form to apply for affordable housing,” said Iskandar.

Special Allowance Proposal For Land Affairs Specialists

5

SHAH ALAM, 7 FEB: The Selangor State Government will be asking the state Land and Mines Office (PTG) to provide special allowances to employees who are experts on land affairs.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the allowance should be given after PTG held a skills and education course, accompanied by a certificate, to employees.

“I want civil servants to have broad skills and capabilities. We provide them with knowledge and with that knowledge, they can carry out a variety of tasks.

“If they pass, we provide allowances. In Selangor, we govern transparently, even more so in matters concerning land.

“We have resolved many issues raised concerning land. For example, we managed to complete the abandoned housing projects in Bukit Botak and Alam Perdana at Puncak Alam. Also, (we have solved) the problem of failure to settle premium payments by a handful of developers within the prescribed period.

“Therefore, they need to learn how we govern an solve these problems. They should also learn something new, for example, the usages of technology and so on,” he said when officiating the state Land Management Workshop, 2008-2012.

Also present were; the Director of PTGS, Datuk Kamarulzaman Jamil and Selangor’s Welfare, Women’s Affairs, Science, Technology, Innovation and Culture Exco, Rodziah Ismail.

He added that with this approach, employees can learn and change administrative ways practiced by the previous State Government.

“Now, we have entered into the stage of fully solving problems of land ownership and land administration as a whole, not just partially.

“Although it is not easy for the to understand land law, it is a criteria that will enable them to carry out duties systematically,” he said.

Residents Dissatisfied With BN Painting Flat Without Consent

2

PETALING JAYA SELATAN, 6 FEB: Umno-BN leaders have been criticised for executing paint works at the Flats in Medan Maju Jaya, without the consent of the Resident’s Association there.

Taman Medan Assemblyman, Haniza Talha said that the flats have first been registered under the Selangor Skim Ceria for paint and roof reparation works.

She said that the residents were not happy with the selection of colours used because prior to this, they had already decided on the colour that they wanted the flats to be painted in.

“It is irresponsible of Umno-BN to paint the buildings without asking for the residents’ opinions.

“They should have asked the residents first to choose the paint colour, that is the way,” said Haniza when met.

Haniz explained that Umno-BN’s attitude highlights the character of the party of not willing to listen to the views of the people.

“We will further discuss with the residents to add more paint so that it (the flats) will be more colourful and have its own identity,” she said.

The Future Of The People Of Selangor In The Hands Of The EC Electoral Roll

4.1

COMMENTS: If voters in Selangor takes the performance of the current State Government as the determining factor of to vote, it is not difficult to predict which party will administer the state after the 13th General Elections (GE-13).

4.2

Put simply, victory in the GE-13 can be considered to be definitely in the hands of Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

From terms of administrative efficiency, right up to the policies introduced, the Selangor PR administrative government is well ahead of the 50 years when Umno-BN led the previous administration.

Even the Auditor General’s report praised the financial management of Selangor.

The Selangor state reserves jumped from RM400 million left by BN in 2008 to RM2.5 billion when the 2013 Budget was tabled last November.

4.3

The increased amount of reserves has enabled the State Government to implement projects for the welfare of the people, including the construction of the third bridge in Klang which was previously a promise that Umno-BN failed to fulfill.

The efficiency of the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in solving issues that BN had failed to solve for decades should also open the eyes of voters in this state.

These include the success of collecting bad debts of RM392 million from Talam Corporation, which BN had failed to do previously.

Completing Abandoned Housing Projects

Also, in less than four years, the State Government has managed to end the decades of suffering of the unit buyers of abandoned housing projects in Selangor.

4.4

For 707 urban settlers who were promised land in the Bukit Botak resettlement scheme by Umno-BN but was resolved by the PR State Government, they would certainly not forget the agony of the 30-year-long wait under the Umno-BN administration.

This is similar for the 260 low-cost house buyers of Block E, Petaling Jaya Selatan (PJS) 1, who were also relieved when the project that was abandoned for nine years was taken over by the State Government.

More than 7,000 land settlers were also relieved when their decades of anticipation was ended when the State Government presented to them their land grants.

Recognising the burden of premium payments borne by applicants, the State Government had also taken steps in fixing the premium payment at only RM1,000 compared to the previous amount which was 20 percent of the value of the land.

Under PR, the people of Selangor are also considered lucky compared to states under BN when they were given the opportunity to enjoy the wealth of the state through various contributions from the 16 Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES – Localising the Selangor Economy) schemes.

Beginning from the Free Water Scheme, the Selangor Children Heritage Fund (Tawas), Senior Citizens Scheme (SMUE – Skim Mesra Usia Emas), right up to the Kindergarten Assistance Scheme; all of which is for the people of Selangor with very reasonable conditions.

Electoral Roll Ghosts

However, the excellent track record of the PR State Government is difficult to bet on when dealing with the Electoral Commission’s (EC) Electoral Roll which is disorderly.

4.5

As of November last year, the Selangor Democratisation Project report revealed that there were 134,675 unidentified voters who were registered in this state, an amount sufficient to topple the PR State Government.

BERSIH Chairman, Datuk Ambiga also informed that the Malaysian Electoral Roll Analysis Project (MERAP) had also detected the same illegal activity in the electoral roll for the fourth quarter of 2012.

Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had raised various doubts in the EC electoral roll such as finding that the birthdate of voters were the same date as the application to vote and other such issues in the House of Representatives.

However, his revelation did not get any response from the EC, a commission which is considered a ‘deaf’ body by certain groups of society.

Meanwhile, the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) regarding the IC project issue in Sabah, revealed that BN had given citizenship easily to foreigners to overthrow the Sabah State Government which was led by the Sabah Uniter Party (PBS) at that time.

4.6

The IC Project in Sabah allegedly involves several political parties, government agencies and independent bodies such as the EC, the National Registration Department (NRD) and the Immigration Department.

According to witness in the RCI investigation lately, Datuk Abdul Rauf Sani, who was the former director of the Sabah NRD, estimated more than 100,000 to 200,000 identification for foreigners were signed by him.

Apart from Abdul Raud, the investigation also brought forward the Sabah NRD Registration Senior Assistant, Yakub Damsah and other witnesses to testify before the RCI.

Statements of several witnesses clearly mentioned the involvement of the EC in this IC project issue, altogether proving the inferiority of this commission’s integrity to conduct the elections in this country.

Back to the political context of Selangor, it is not impossible that at this moment, Umno-BN, with the cooperation of the EC and other government departments are working to ensure that victory is in Umno-BN’s favour in the upcoming general elections.

In fact, it would not be surprising that with assistance of a dirty electoral roll, Umno-BN manages to comfortably win with a two-third majority at the Selangor State Assembly stage.

The Selangor Government is of course aware, that to defend a State Government as rich as Selangor, it is not enough to just give the best service to its citizens alone.

Hence, the State Government with the help of friends from PR is finding a different formula to implement greater pressure on the horses ridden by Umno-BN.

The fate and future of the people lies in the hands of the people themselves, do not let the EC take it away by cheating by means of a dirty EC electoral roll.

Selangor Government Orders Developer To Repair Cracked Apartment

6

SHAH ALAM, 31 JAN: The State Government wants the developer of Pangsapuri Indahria (apartments) to immediately implement reparation works to the building which is currently facing problems of land fissures causing structural cracks since a year ago.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that should the developer refuse to carry out the works, the State Government will direct the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to take over reparation efforts.

MBSA will then claim payment from the developer for the cost of repair.

“We have asked the developer to repair the problem of cracks that have occurred and if the developer does not take any action, I will instruct MBSA to carry out reparation works.

“However, all maintenance costs will be handed over to the developer to settle,” he said in a press conference after launching the E-Gems Social Management System at the Silver Jubilee Auditorium at the State Secretariat Building today.

He added that the appropriateness for the residents to continue to occupy the apartment will only be decided by the Shah Alam Mayor.

Previously it was reported that about 1,000 residents at the said apartments feared for their safety when land fissures at the building site were getting more serious.

The cracks is believed to be attributable to land fissures at the parking area adjacent to the 15-storey apartments, which caused the parking area’s structural column to tilt.
