Selangor Palace Explains the Delay in the Appointment of Exco

4

SHAH ALAM, 30 May: The delay in the appointment of the State Executive Council is only because the Chief Minister received the royal assent from the Selangor Palace after his return from treatment abroad.

Private Secretary to DYMM the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Datuk Lela Bakti Mohamad Munir Bani said that accusations claiming that the appointment of Exco members was delayed to meet the needs of DYMM the Sultan of Selangor are not true at all.

After the Selangor Chief Minister inauguration ceremony on 14 May, DYMM the Sultan commanded Abdul Khalid to submit a list of the Exco members to receive his royal assent.

DYMM the Sultan received the letter containing the name list of candidates on 20 May, 6 days later, while Abdul Khalid was on leave to receive medical treatment abroad.

According to Munir, Khalid only went before the Sultan to receive the assent from SYMM the Sultan of Selangor on 27 May after his return to the country.

“Therefore, the accusations of a Member of Parliament for the Selangor State stating that the delay in appointment of Selangor State Executive Councillors is to meet the needs of DYMM the Sultan of Selangor are not true.”

Mohamad Munir reminded everyone to not drag the Palace in political affairs to avoid the people’s misconception towards DYMM the Sultan of Selangor.

Anwar Will Reveal the List of Airline Companies Bringing Foreign Voters

8

AMPANG, 1 May: PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will reveal the list of airline companies allegedly used by Umno-BN to bring in foreigners to vote during the 13th General Election (GE-13) on Sunday.

According to Anwar, he has all the documents needed to prove to the people of yet another Umno-BN fraud on the matter.

“Up to this day, the Election Commission (EC) has failed to give any answer on the allegations made. I have all the documents regarding the airline companies involved and I will reveal it in a press conference tomorrow,” he said.

He said this in his speech while attending a People’s Freedom Tour programme here at Taman Dagang this morning.

Also present was the Pandan Parliament PKR candidate, Rafizi Ramli, the Ampang Parliament PKR candidate, Zuraida Kamarudin and DAP candidate for Teratai constituency, Tiew Way Keng.

In the meantime, Anwar also criticised Umno-BN’s actions of often using dirty tactics to ensure the administration of the country remains in their grip.

Anwar said that the Umno-BN leadership should leave it to the people to make a choice and prepare to accept any decision made.

“Enough with this cheating and let the people decide on 5 May. Datuk Seri Najib Razak does not have to fear because even if Umno-BN loses, he will still have the position as the Leader of the Opposition.

“Every voter should vote and make the right choice. We must work to ensure Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) victory to avoid the country from being continuously governed by leaders that are not transparent like Umno-BN,” he added.

BN Candidate for Gombak Setia Constituency Fails to Appear for Debate

4.1

GOMBAK, 1 May: The BN candidate for Gombak Setia constituency, Datuk Said Anuar Said Ahmad failed to attend the Political Debate ‘Gombak Setia Agenda’.

Said Anuar was expected to debate with PAS candidate, Hasbullah Ridzwan at Dewan Beringin in Sri Gombak to meet mature political culture organised by the Gombak PAS Youth Assembly.

This opportunity was used to its best by Hasbullah to explain the agenda and the Gombak Setia area planning as well as to explain the People’s Manifesto introduced by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) for the 13th General Election (GE-13).

4.2

“I understand that the invitation was sent via registered letter dated 24 April to his office and I personally received the invitation from the organisers.

“Any (asperse) accusations is not justified.

“There is no question of asperse. It is based on a format which is fair to both sides on an equal stage,” he said.

Prior to that, Said Anuar lodged a police report with the Gombak Police Station regarding the display of banners and the spreading on websites on the political debate.

According to him, the report was made to deny any invitations, whether in writing or by word of mouth, unless the display and distribution of banners and websites are done without his consent.

In the meantime, speaking in front of 250 civilians, Ustaz Hasbullah explained that the infrastructural and human capital development are the main focus which will be addressed if raised to be the people’s representative on 5 May.

Najib Flip-Flops, Insincere in Completing CAR Project

1

SELAYANG, 30 Apr: The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak continues to flip-flop on setting the issue of the high voltage cable installation project in Kampung Sungai Terentang.

The PKR candidate for the Rawang constituency, Gan Pei Nei said that promises made by Najib when he visited the village are deemed insincere and even of a threatening nature.

She claims that this is because Najib has placed conditions of the forcing nature for the people in the area to vote BN in the 13th General Election (GE-13) this time before the project can be completed.

“We have sent memos and letters repeatedly to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) to enter into negotiation to resolve this case but there has been no response till now.

“Najib’s visit to Kampung Sungai Terentang does not show his commitment in resolving this problem. The people need to change the government, that is the only way,” she said in a press conference here at the Selayang PKR Main Operations Room.

Meanwhile, PKR candidate for Selayang Parliament, William Leong regrets the actions of BN leaders who are making this issue a political field to garner votes.

He stressed that the problem can be solved immediately as Najib has the power to order Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to implement the cable installation project according to the predetermined alternative route.

Previously, residents objected the project because the path of the high-voltage substation cable will cross the village and it is said to cause residents to face the risk of cancer, leukaemia and pregnancy problems.

If TNB were to go through with the original alignment of CAR, it would have to demolish residents’ homes, fields, community halls, religious buildings and business premises.

However, the original plan had been blocked by the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government who negotiated with TNB to find alternative routes that will not affect the village.

Resident Claims MCA Seized Land in Kampung Sungai Terentang

5.1

RAWANG, 29 Apr: A resident in Kampung Sungai Terentang here claims that the 6000 square feet land owned by his family since 1954 was seized and secretly transferred ownership by the MCA leadership that administered the area more than 10 years ago.

The resident, Ng Phei Yun claimed that the incident was first detected in 998 when he failed to renew the land ownership lease (grant) at the land and district office.

He said that the first attempt to renew the grant at the land office failed and was rejected on grounds that the documents were incomplete.

However, a year later, he was shocked to find that the land had changed ownership, in fact the area of the land was also altered and bordered.

“When BN was the governing Selangor, many residents met with MCA leaders to seek assistance regarding land.

“When it was time to renew the grant, we referred to MCA and they said that the ownership of the land had been transferred and sold to their party member.

“Our family felt victimised for being treated this way. What is their right to seize our land? They first promised to help us, then they seize,” he said in a press conference here at the Selayang PKR Main Operations Room this morning.

Also present was the Selayang PKR candidate, William Leong and the Rawang constituency PKR candidate, Gan Pei Nei.

Phei Yun added that he was worried that the land owned by his family cannot be returned because until now, it is still owned by the MCA leader.

Meanwhile, Gan Pei Nei demanded for MCA to immediately return the seized land to the original owners because they have no right to do so seeing that it was owned by Phei Yun’s family for over 50 year.

“Too much abuse of power occurred during the BN administration including seizing the land from the people. BN should be aware that pillaging and plundering the wealth of the people is a huge offence because they have no right,” she stressed.

After 20 Years of Waiting, Only Now the Sg Delek Bridge Has Been Completed

2.1

KLANG, 29 Apr: The wait for more than 20 years by the local residents around Selat Klang, especially those in Kampung Delek to receive a bridge has ended when it was fully completed.

The bridge named ‘Mini Serambi Mekah’ (Mini Arch of Mecca) cost more than RM3.4 million which was paid for by the Selangor Government and was implemented by the Public Works Department and the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).

Selat Klang constituency candidate, Dr Halimah Ali said that the bridge will be able to solve many problem related to communication faced by the residents.

She said that previously, the residents only used sluice bridged owned by the Department of Drainage and Irrigation (JPS) which was only able to provide access one vehicle at a time.

“So, during the peak hours in the morning and evening, it is very jammed and cannot be crossed by heavy vehicles. With the presence of this bridge, congestion can be reduced,” she told reporters after officiating the new bridge here.

2.2

She said that with this bridge, it will also facilitate the local residents to transport remains of deceased over the bridge to the cemetery where previously, residents were forced to use a longer route because of the absence of the bridge.

Meanwhile, the village head of Kampung Delek, Samsul Bahri said that the State Government’s attentiveness is greatly appreciated by the villagers.

“As a representative of the residents, I am very grateful and thankful to the YB (Assemblyman) and the State Government.

“In addition, it can at least reduce the accident rate as well as no longer having to use the longer route, more than 10 kilometres, to get to Port Klang,” he said.

The project which started in early January included the construction of the bridge and a dual direction 1.2 kilometre road.

The bridge which was built across Sungai Telok Gadung and Janal Sri Perantau Kampung Delek managed to be completed in two months. It covers the provision of a new road.

Residents of Ukay Perdana Satisfied With PR’s Performance

4.1

HULU KLANG, 28 Apr: Residents of Ukay Perdana who were met expressed satisfaction with the performance shown by the Pakatan Rakyat State Government.

They also hope that the elected representative will maintain the current performance and hopes that it can be improved on several matters raised.

For Khaizir Irwan Nordin, he is satisfied with the level of security in the area and he also hopes road problems can be resolved.

4.2

“So far, everything is okay. Even (criminal) cases are not many.

“Here the problem is with the roads as some need to be upgraded.

“In terms of garbage (removal) there are no problems. I live in Apartment Sri Putri and it is all done according to schedule,” he explained.

Meanwhile Abdul Malik Mohamed Ibrahim said that on the whole, he is satisfied and hopes that this situation can be retained.

He suggested that traders should be given a more systematic business space compared to the current which is rather scattered.

“The business space which is scattered causes the waste management system to be problematic,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Hulu Klang constituency incumbent, Saari Sungib in an initial reaction explained that the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has provided almost 400 units of garbage bins, especially in commercial areas.

He said that, what is important is the monitoring system of direct collection should be carried out by MPAJ so that it is more effective.

He also hopes that the MPAJ will increase the price of cleanliness project contracts and to repair infrastructure as there are a few contractors facing problems of shortage of equipment and workers to carry out their duties.

BN People’s Representative Ignores Infrastructure in Kg Bagan Parit Baru Baroh

3.1

SABAK BERNAM, 27 Apr: About 200 residents in Kampung Bagan Parit Baru Baroh are disappointed with Umno-BN’s attitude of ignoring infrastructural development in the village which has existed since the 1970s.

A resident, Ng Tiam Chai, 44, who was met by a reporter from Selangor Kini said that the elected Umno-BN representative never went down to the ground to witness the poverty in the fishing village.

He said that the difficulties of the residents are coupled with the old wooden walkways with high risk of collapsing any time.

He hopes that the newly elected representative will repair the walkway with concrete to make it stronger and safer for residents.

Thus, he and the residents resolve to give support to candidates from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in the 13th General Election (GE-13) to be defended.

In the meantime, the sufferings of the residents got the attention of the Pakatan Rakyat Candidate for Sabak Bernam Parliament, Dr Abdul Aziz Bari and the Sungai Air Tawar State Legislative Assembly (DUN) candidate, Wahid Rais who went down to meet the people there.

3.2

“In the absence of a credible representative in the area, the residents here are like ‘chicks without a mother’ as they have no place to seek protection,” said Dr Aziz.

Dr Aziz added that he will address the problems faced by villagers at the federal level where there are greater development funds.

“It involves the Ministry of Agriculture and several other agencies, therefore half of this infrastructure development does not involve the state’s jurisdiction.

“That is why Pakatan Rakyat wants to be a government at the central level so that problems like this can be resolved,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Sungai Air Tawar DUN candidate, Wahid Rais said that he was somewhat surprised with the poor condition of the infrastructure in the village which he describes as neglect from appropriate development.

Umno-BN Only Gives Land Grants to Supporters

1

RAWANG, 26 Apr: The people in Batu Arang are forced to face the ‘blackmail politics’ sentiment practiced by Umno-BN leaders with regards to giving land ownership grants in the village for decades.

This is because Umno-BN allegedly presents land grants to anyone who supports the party in the General Election (GE).

According to the village head of Kampung Batu Arang, Rosli Mohd Sharif, the move is completely different to Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) stand of not assessing based on political ideology to resolve the issue.

“We have found that many grants were not issued since year 2000 because Umno-BN practices blackmail politics where grants are only issued during the GE and handed only to whoever supports the party.

“When PR governed Selangor, hundreds of grants were successfully issued in less than five years of their administration. PR helped the people regardless of ethnicity and (political) party,” he said at a press conference here at the Batu Arang PKR headquarters.

He added that since PR took over the reins of administration in Selangor, more than 500 land grants have been presented to local residents, while 600 applications will be settled soon.

Meanwhile, defending the Selayang Parliamentary seat, William Leong said that the technique of house-to-house surveys was used to identify the residents or land owners who are residing in the area before presenting grants.

He explained that the problem that has persisted for more than 20 years managed to be resolved by PR in a short period of time and involves several other areas throughout Selayang.

“Therefore, the Chief Minister ordered all members of Parliament and Assemblymen to make a census on who qualifies to receive the land grant and is actually living there,” he said.

Selangor MCA Chairman, Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai previously claimed that the residents in Batu Arang were faced with land grant application problems despite having long been applying to the PR Government.

Confident ‘Ini Kalilah’ Voters of Paya Jaras Create History

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sungai Buloh, 24 Apr: PAS candidate for the Paya Jaras State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Mohd Khairuddin Othman is confident that voters in Paya Jaras are ready to topple BN in its own stronghold.

He expressed his confidence following response from the Malay and Indian community as well as feedback received from the Chinese community-dominated area.

6.2

“There is no doubt for Chinese (community) areas and in Malay areas, at present, voters are showing increasing support.

“Especially since the participation of the former Selangor Chief Minister, Tan Sri Muhammad Mohd Taib, who joined PAS a few days ago,” said Mohd Khairuddin when met by TVSelangor after a meet-the-people programme at the night market in Taman Sri Putra here last night.

Mohd Khairuddin also hopes that voters in constituencies he had contested for in the 12th General Election (GE-12) to give him a chance to prove his ability in providing the best service compared to BN assemblymen.

“The campaign today is akin to falling rain only, but if we win, like it or not, even if I want to or otherwise, I have to increase my efforts by 10 times from now to help the people here. Insya-Allah, even if it floods, I will be with the people.

“Voters now are wiser, unlike in the 60s. Now if they do not see their YB working, they will change (the assemblyman),” he added.

TVSelangor also managed to meet several prospective voters to get their feedback.

Machine operator, KK Chong, 60, said that he is ready to give his support to PR due to the pressures of life faced by the people today.

“This area has a Chinese (community) majority; I believe that more than 80 percent of voters support PR because most of the people I have met do not want BN anymore.

6.3

“Among the reasons is the higher cost of living. It is not just the Malays who experience hardship, the Chinese and Indian (communities) are experiencing hardships and pressured, therefore we have to change the government,” he said.

“My Indian friends are all in the same mood of wanting PR because we see the Selangor PR Government working hard, without corruption, they do not steal people’s money, even the natives support PR,” said Tamil Kalai, 50.

The clash between PAS candidate Mohd Khairuddin and BN candidate, Muhammad Bushro Mat Johor in this GE-13 will be their second clash.

For the GE-12 in 2008, Mohd Khairuddin was defeated by the BN candidate with a slim majority of 642 votes.

Muhammad Bushro obtained 11,521 votes while Mohd Khairuddin obtained 10,879 votes.

If Pakatan Rakyat Loses, Kampung Sungai Terentang Will Be Ruined

7.1

RAWANG, 22 Apr: The joy felt by Goh Ah Kow three months ago has passed and that Village Chief of Kampung Sungai Terentang is now facing the possibility that the good news from earlier this year will not be prolonged.

In January, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) agreed to not demolish half the village to build the Central Area Reinforcement (CAR) high voltage project.

But, if Pakatan Rakyat does not govern the State Government after the 13th General Election (GE-13), Ah Kow is worried that TNB will continue with its original plan.

The plan will see the demolishing of shops, houses of worship and the residential village of 60 years.

In fact, Kampung Sungai Terentang is said to have only been safe from being demolished because the State Government changed hands from Umno-BN to Pakatan Rakyat in March 2008.

For five years, the Selangor PR took the initiative to negotiate with TNB to find alternative routes that will not affect the building structures in the village, including two schools nearby.

7.2

“The State Government set three criteria (ie) CAR cannot go through Kampung Sungai Terentang, does not disturb schools and the Rawang-Ipoh main road,” said William Leong, former MP of Selayang who was involved in the negotiation process.

The outcome of ongoing negotiations between the Selangor PR Government and TNB as of January received agreement from the electricity distribution company to use an alternative route that does not affect the village.

To help find alternative routes in the best interest of all parties, be it the villagers or TNB, the Selangor Government appointed engineering consultants, Aecom from New Zealand.

“The PR State Government’s move was good because they found alternative routes for this project in addition to saving the residents and the village from being destroyed,” said Ah Kow.

Ah Kow said that the villagers were happy with the decision of the State Government to a point that it can be said that a majority of more than 5,000 villagers are now staunch supporters of PR.

The support is from their hopes and outcries to continue to inhabit and continue their lives in the village.

This is because, claimed William, TNB still does not want to implement the decision to use alternative routes agreed upon with the Selangor Government.

“The plan is already completed, it is just that TNB does not want to implement it,” said William.

For Ah Kow and the villagers, the change in administration to Umno-BN will be a grim event from them.

“They gave RM120,000 as compensation for demolished houses. Where are we going to find new homes at the price now?” said Ah Kow.

“We have lived in this village for a long time and we already received land grants.”
